Clinica Santa Maria to Stay with Mercy Health Saint Mary’s

catherinesCatherine’s Health Center (Catherine’s) and Mercy Health Saint Mary’s (MHSM) have been working collaboratively on a transition of the operations of Clinica Santa Maria, a Federally Qualified Health Center within MHSM, to Catherine’s. At this time, the two parties have decided that MHSM will continue to operate Clinica and Catherine’s will pursue an alternative platform to serve the community.

Catherine’s and MHSM will each continue our respective missions and we will look for opportunities to work together, as appropriate, to provide the best health care services possible to the members of our community.

COVID-19 Testing for Spanish-speaking Population

Mercy Health Saint Mary’s will use a portion of the CARES Act Award to prevent, prepare and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically to increase activities within the Grand Rapids Hispanic community and serve 1,000 patients.

Activities include community-wide education on hand hygiene, cough etiquette, and COVID-19 transmission, with the goal to prevent, contain, or mitigate COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses.

Clinica Santa Maria is also providing non-medical grade PPE for the community including 3,000 masks, 1,000 oral thermometers, pulse oximeters. A fixed site/drive through tent located near Clinica Santa Maria opened on June 3, and will be staffed by Saint Mary’s clinicians, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., to provide COVID-19 testing for symptomatic patients with a doctor’s order.
